My first blog post!

Although I am based in Spain, I am starting to work in the UK as, due to family circumstances, there is a planned move back to England in 2015. Also, as my old friend and photographer Scott Del Amo of is now based in Cardiff and we have worked together on many projects and are planning to keep on doing so in Wales and the South West, I have the perfect platform to begin working back in Blighty.

Scott rang me a few weeks ago to say that he had been offered a free stall at the Cardiff Wedding Fayre organised by JR Events. Free that is, if he gave a talk about his experience of working for fashion magazines such as Vogue and taking stills on Hollywood movie sets. Would I be interested in sharing it with him – as long as I also shared the stage and said a few words on wedding videos.

Arriving in Cardiff by train from London, the heavens seemed to open precisely on the Welsh border      and I got drenched getting into a taxi outside the station. Seeing as though we had no rain for a nine month stretch here in Mojácar last year, I was quite content. The next day though, was a beautiful winters day with bright sunshine and the odd cloud skipping happily across deep blue skies.

This was our first experience of a wedding fair and so we were not entirely sure what to expect. We were given a stall in a good spot in the wonderful building that is Cardiff City Hall. Behind us were the doors that led into the ornate old debating chamber – a beautiful room with an enormous domed ceiling.

Most of the morning was spent in a state of medium anxiety about having to give our talk after the fashion show at 2pm. However, that didn’t stop us from enjoying chatting to the brides to be as they came by our table and mingling with the other stall holders. Despite our nerves the talk went well and we were even beaten back to the stall by a groom who was interested in signing us up for a wedding in West London this summer.

All in all it proved to a successful into to the Welsh wedding scene. We got some great feedback, attracting a lot of attention and had over 25 brides who filled in our contact forms. We will be back in September!
